Finding the right fit

Seating specialist helping client choose a chair

A Clinically Informed Approach

Establishing the best seating solution for your needs starts with understanding your lived experience: how long you sit, how you shift, how you use the chair.

Listen and Assess

It’s not just asking “what do you need?”, it’s about understanding the user’s day-to-day: how long they sit, what positions they favour, what causes discomfort, what health issues matter.

Pressure Mapping & Posture

Using specialist tools, we can see where pressure builds up and which seating adjustments will relieve it.

Tailored Recommendations

Based on that assessment, we can then suggest the  seating solutions that would be the best fit. That could be riser recliners, tilt-in-space or bespoke chairs - always with an eye to both comfort and clinical benefit.

Fine Tuning

Once your chair is delivered, the team will re-check your posture, make small adjustments, and help you to understand how to use its features best (tilt, recline, pressure cushions) to stay well supported.

Product FAQ's

Does the Erin riser recliner come with a guarantee?

Every Erin riser recliner includes 5-year accidental damage cover as standard. If you have any concerns after delivery, our aftercare team is available to help make sure your chair continues to perform as it should.

How do I find out which size and motor option is right for me?

A home visit from one of our seating consultants is the most thorough way to find the right Erin for you. They can assess your posture and mobility, take your measurements and demonstrate the difference between the single and triple motor options so you can make an informed decision. If you prefer to start online, our Chair Selector Tool lets you filter by height, weight, symptoms and conditions to generate personalised recommendations. You can also call the team directly for a conversation before committing to a visit.

Can I get a sofa to match the Erin?

Yes - the Erin is available with matching 2-seater and 3-seater sofas in the same fabric and finish. Given the Erin’s traditional button-back styling, a matching suite can look particularly cohesive in a classically furnished room. Both sofas are available in manual or motorised recline, and all fabric options from the Erin range apply to the sofas too.

Is the Erin suitable for users with specific health conditions?

The Erin is used by people managing a range of conditions where ease of movement, postural support and the ability to rest comfortably for extended periods are priorities. This includes Arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Kyphosis, Lordosis, Heart Disease and those recovering from stroke. The optional head and neck support accessories make the Erin particularly suitable for users with mid-body or upper spinal conditions. If you’d like to discuss whether the Erin is appropriate for a specific health need, our seating specialists can advise, or you can use our Chair Selector Tool to explore the full range.

What are the optional neck roll and head cushion, and do I need them?

The Erin can be fitted with an optional neck roll and additional head cushion to provide extra support at the top of the backrest. The neck roll is a cylindrical cushion positioned at the upper back or neck area, useful for users who experience neck stiffness or who find their head tends to fall forward when relaxing in the chair. The additional head cushion provides a deeper, more padded surface at head height. Neither is required for standard use, but both are worth considering if you spend long periods in the chair, if you have cervical spine issues, or if you simply find that standard headrests don’t give you enough support.

What is the button-back design and is it just aesthetic?

The Erin’s button-back refers to the tufted detailing on the backrest - a classic upholstery style that gives the chair a more traditional, furniture-quality appearance. While it is primarily a styling feature, the button-back’s structure also creates a naturally contoured surface across the back of the chair, which many users find adds to the feeling of being gently held in position. For those who want a riser recliner that doesn’t look clinical or out of place in a well-furnished home, the Erin’s button-back is often the deciding factor.

What is Tilt-in-Space functionality and what does it do?

Tilt-in-Space is included as part of the Erin’s triple motor option. It tilts the entire seat unit - seat base, backrest and footrest together - rather than reclining the backrest independently. This controlled tilt gently assists users in moving from a seated position to standing, reducing the physical effort required and lowering the risk of unsteadiness during the transition. It also helps redistribute pressure across the seat and back, which is beneficial for users who spend extended periods sitting.

What is the difference between the single motor and triple motor options?

The single motor option on the Erin controls the recline function as one movement - the backrest and footrest move together when you press the handset button, making it a straightforward and easy-to-use option for those who want simple, one-touch comfort. The triple motor option adds Tilt-in-Space functionality and separates the control of the backrest and footrest so they can be adjusted independently. This gives you far greater flexibility - for example, raising just the footrest to ease swelling, or reclining the back without lifting the legs. The triple motor is the better choice for users who need precise postural adjustment or who have difficulty rising from a fully reclined position.

What is the maximum weight capacity of the Erin?

The Erin’s standard build supports users up to 25 stone. If a higher weight capacity is required, the Erin can be built to accommodate users up to 70 stone - please contact our team to discuss what this involves and to get a quote.

What sizes is the Erin available in?

The Erin is available in four standard sizes - Super Petit, Compact, Medium and Large -as well as a Made-to-Measure upgrade for a chair built to your individual measurements. Super Petit is designed for shorter users, with a lower seat height to ensure feet rest flat on the floor when the footrest is not extended. Compact has a reduced overall width, making it a good choice where space is limited. Medium suits the majority of average-height users, with proportions designed to keep the spine, hips and knees in a natural seated alignment. Large provides additional width and seat depth for taller or broader users. If standard sizing doesn’t suit your build or mobility needs, Made-to-Measure removes the compromise.
