Product FAQ's
Standard Freya models are typically ready for delivery within 7 days. Made-to-Measure builds or less common configurations generally take around 6 weeks. Your confirmed lead time will be provided at the point of order. Every Freya is delivered as part of our white-glove service. Our team will place the chair in the room of your choice, set it up fully and walk you through the handset controls before leaving. We deliver and install across the whole of the UK.
A home visit from one of our seating consultants is the most thorough way to find the right size, motor option and configuration. They’ll take your measurements, assess your posture and mobility, and demonstrate the difference between the single and triple motor options so you can make an informed decision. If you’d prefer to explore options first, our Chair Selector Tool lets you filter by height, weight, health conditions and symptoms to generate recommendations. You can also call the team directly for guidance before committing to a visit.
Yes - matching 2-seater and 3-seater sofas are available in the same fabric and finish as your Freya. With over 200 fabric options to choose from, coordinating your suite is straightforward. Both sofas are available in manual or motorised recline.
The Freya is used by people managing a range of conditions where reliable postural support, ease of movement and all-day comfort are important - including Arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Kyphosis, Lordosis, Heart Disease and those recovering from stroke. The two-tier back cushion system provides consistent upper and lower back support across long periods of sitting, while the wooden arm knuckles assist users with reduced grip or arm strength when rising. For tailored guidance on whether the Freya suits a specific condition, our seating specialists can advise directly, or you can use the Chair Selector Tool online.
The Freya’s wooden arm knuckles are hardwood inserts positioned at the front of each armrest, available in a choice of three wood colour finishes. They provide a firm, non-slip surface to push against when getting in and out of the chair - useful for anyone with limited hand strength, joint pain or reduced upper body power. They also give the Freya a more considered, furniture-quality appearance that distinguishes it from more purely functional seating. The choice of three wood colours means the knuckles can be matched to existing furniture in the room.
Tilt-in-Space is included as part of the Freya’s triple motor option. Rather than reclining the backrest alone, it tilts the entire seat unit - seat base, backrest and footrest together - as a single controlled movement. This brings the user into a more forward and upright orientation that significantly reduces the effort needed to stand, and lowers the risk of unsteadiness during the transition. It can also be used throughout the day to periodically shift weight and reduce pressure on any one area.
The Freya’s single motor option moves the backrest and footrest together as one action, controlled by a single button press. It’s a straightforward, easy-to-use option that suits users who want simple recline without managing multiple controls. The triple motor option separates the backrest and footrest so they can be adjusted independently, and adds Tilt-in-Space functionality to assist with the sit-to-stand transition. With the triple motor, you can raise just the footrest to reduce swelling, recline the back without lifting the legs, or use the Tilt-in-Space to help you stand without putting strain on your arms. The triple motor is the better choice for users who need more precise positional control throughout the day.
The Freya uses a two-tier back cushion system in which the upper and lower sections of the backrest are independently constructed to support different areas of the body. The upper tier covers the head, neck and shoulder region, while the lower tier supports the lumbar area and lower back. This zoned approach means each part of the back receives support that is sized and positioned for it, rather than relying on a single flat surface to cover the whole back. For users who spend extended periods seated, or those who experience upper and lower back discomfort at the same time, the two-tier system provides a more attentive and comfortable sitting experience.
The Freya’s standard build supports users up to 25 stone. For users who require a higher weight-rated chair, the Freya can be built to accommodate up to 70 stone. Please get in touch with our team to discuss your specific requirements.
The Freya comes in four standard sizes - Super Petit, Compact, Medium and Large - as well as a Made-to-Measure upgrade for a chair built to your exact measurements. Super Petit suits shorter users, with a lower seat height that allows feet to rest flat on the floor without the footrest extended, which supports good posture and leg circulation. Compact has a narrower overall footprint, making it a practical choice where space is at a premium. Medium is suited to the majority of average-height users, with seat proportions designed to keep the hips, spine and knees in a comfortable alignment. Large offers greater width and depth for taller or broader frames. If a standard size doesn’t quite fit your needs, Made-to-Measure removes the guesswork entirely.
