Connie

Waterfall cushioning. Classic detailing. Total support.

The Connie combines the full-body postural support of waterfall back cushions, which follow the natural curve of the spine from head to lower back, and the traditional character of a classic armchair. Combined with single or triple motor options including Tilt-in-Space functionality and an optional neck roll cushion for additional upper support, the Connie is a chair that works hard for its occupant while looking every bit at home in a classically furnished room.

  • Waterfall back cushions follow the curve of the spine for continuous head-to-lower-back support
  • Wooden arm knuckles in 3 colour options provide a firm grip point and a refined, traditional finish
  • Dual Motor Tilt-in-Space functionality for a safe, controlled transition from sitting to standing
  • Single or triple motor options — simple one-touch recline or fully independent positioning control
  • Optional neck roll cushion for additional upper back and neck support
  • 4 standard sizes plus Made to Measure - built around your body, not adjusted to fit it

The Connie combines the structural support of waterfall cushioning with the character of a traditional armchair, delivering full-body comfort without sacrificing the look of your home.

Finding the right fit

Seating specialist helping client choose a chair

A Clinically Informed Approach

Establishing the best seating solution for your needs starts with understanding your lived experience: how long you sit, how you shift, how you use the chair.

Listen and Assess

It’s not just asking “what do you need?”, it’s about understanding the user’s day-to-day: how long they sit, what positions they favour, what causes discomfort, what health issues matter.

Pressure Mapping & Posture

Using specialist tools, we can see where pressure builds up and which seating adjustments will relieve it.

Tailored Recommendations

Based on that assessment, we can then suggest the  seating solutions that would be the best fit. That could be riser recliners, tilt-in-space or bespoke chairs - always with an eye to both comfort and clinical benefit.

Once your chair is delivered, the team will re-check your posture, make small adjustments, and help you to understand how to use its features best (tilt, recline, pressure cushions) to stay well supported.

Product FAQ's

How do I find out which size and configuration of the Connie is right for me?

A home visit is the most thorough way to find the right Connie. Our consultants will take your measurements, assess your posture and mobility, and talk you through the motor options and accessories so you can make a fully informed decision. If you’d prefer to start by exploring your options independently, our Chair Selector Tool allows you to filter by height, weight, health conditions and symptoms. You can also call the team for an initial conversation before booking a visit.

Can I get a matching sofa?

Yes, the Connie is available with matching 2-seater and 3-seater sofas in the same fabric and finish. With over 200 fabric options available, you can create a living room suite that feels considered and coordinated rather than clinical. Both sofas come in manual and motorised recline options.

Is the Connie suitable for users with specific health conditions?

The Connie’s combination of waterfall cushioning, Tilt-in-Space functionality and wooden arm knuckles makes it well suited to users managing conditions where postural support, pressure management and ease of movement are important, including Arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Kyphosis, Lordosis, Heart Disease and those recovering from stroke. The waterfall cushion system is particularly effective for users with spinal conditions or those prone to postural discomfort during extended sitting. If you’d like to discuss whether the Connie is appropriate for a specific condition, our seating specialists can advise, or you can use our Chair Selector Tool to explore options across the full range.

What is the optional neck roll cushion and who is it for?

The Connie’s optional neck roll is a cylindrical cushion that can be added to the upper backrest area to provide extra support at the neck and cervical spine. It is a useful addition for users who find their head or neck unsupported in a standard chair position, who experience neck stiffness or pain, or who have a tendency to slump at the upper back when relaxing for extended periods. It is not required for standard use, but is worth considering if neck or upper spinal support is a priority.

What are the wooden arm knuckles and why does the Connie have them?

The Connie’s wooden arm knuckles are a hardwood detail positioned at the front of each armrest, available in a choice of three wood colour finishes. They serve two purposes. Practically, they provide a firm, stable surface to push against when rising from the chair - which is especially useful for users with reduced grip strength, joint pain or weakness in the arms and hands. Aesthetically, they bring a furniture-quality finish to the chair that distinguishes it from more clinical-looking seating aids, and pairs well with the Connie’s traditional styling.

What is Tilt-in-Space functionality and what does it do?

Tilt-in-Space is part of the Connie’s triple motor system. Unlike a standard recline, which moves the backrest backward while the seat stays level, Tilt-in-Space tilts the whole seating position, seat base, backrest and footrest together as a single unit. This controlled tilt gently moves the user into a more upright, forward-leaning orientation that makes rising to stand significantly easier and safer. It also assists with pressure relief and postural management, making it a valuable feature for users who are seated for long periods or who have difficulty with the sit-to-stand transition.

What is the difference between the single motor and triple motor options?

The Connie’s single motor option reclines the backrest and footrest together as one movement - simple, reliable and easy to operate with a single button press. The triple motor option adds Tilt-in-Space functionality and separates the control of the backrest and footrest so that each can be adjusted independently. This allows for much more precise positioning, for example, raising just the footrest to reduce leg swelling, or reclining fully without lifting the legs. The triple motor also includes the Tilt-in-Space function, which tilts the entire seat unit to assist users in moving from seated to standing. It is the recommended option for users with more significant mobility limitations or those who spend the majority of their day in the chair.

What are waterfall back cushions and how do they differ from standard cushioning?

The Connie’s waterfall back cushions are a two-tier cushion system in which the upper and lower sections overlap and follow the natural curve of the spine rather than sitting flat. This cascading profile means the back is supported continuously from the head and neck down through the lumbar region, rather than relying on a single flat surface that can leave gaps in coverage. For users who experience back pain, postural fatigue or discomfort when sitting for extended periods, waterfall cushions provide a noticeably more enveloping and supportive feel. The design also helps keep the user in a consistent, well-supported position throughout the day, reducing the tendency to slump or shift.

What is the maximum weight capacity of the Connie?

The Connie’s standard build supports users up to 25 stone. For those who require a higher weight-rated chair, the Connie can be built to accommodate users up to 70 stone. Please speak to our team to discuss your specific requirements and what the bespoke build involves.

What sizes is the Connie available in?

The Connie is available in four standard sizes - Super Petit, Compact, Medium and Large - alongside a Made-to-Measure upgrade for a chair built to your exact dimensions. Super Petit is suited to shorter users, with a seat height that allows feet to rest flat on the floor without the footrest extended, helping to maintain correct posture and circulation. Compact features a narrower overall width, making it well-suited to smaller rooms or tighter spaces. Medium offers a balanced seat width and depth to suit the majority of average-height users. Large provides greater dimensions for taller or broader frames. If no standard size fits your requirements, or if you have specific postural needs, the Made-to-Measure option ensures the chair is built around you from the ground up.
