Tri-Chair Two
Tilt-in-Space precision. Independent positioning. Designed for complex needs.
The Tri-Chair Two is a clinically advanced specialist seating solution built for semi-ambulant and non-ambulant users who need more than a standard chair can offer. A motorised Tilt-in-Space mechanism, independent back recline and elevating legrest work together to redistribute body weight, manage pressure and support postural alignment throughout the day. Overlapping lateral support waterfall back cushions hold the user in a centred midline position, while fully adjustable seat dimensions - height, width and depth - ensure an accurate, body-specific fit. Made to measure as standard, the Tri-Chair Two is built around the individual, not the average.
- Tilt-in-Space mechanism pivots the entire seat unit to safely redistribute body weight and relieve postural pressure
- Lateral support waterfall back cushions overlap to hold the user in a centred, midline sitting position throughout the day
- Independent back recline and elevating legrest give precise, individual control over positioning without affecting the whole chair
- Adjustable seat height, width and depth - made to measure as standard for an accurate body-specific fit
- Removable, height and length adjustable arms support varied transfer needs and can be removed entirely when required
- Lockable castors and a push handle enable safe, controlled movement between rooms or care settings
The Tri-Chair Two combines a Tilt-in-Space mechanism with independent back and leg positioning, lateral midline support and fully made-to-measure sizing - a clinical-grade specialist chair built around the specific postural, pressure care and mobility needs of each individual user.

Product FAQ's
Yes. Every Tri-Chair Two is delivered as part of our white-glove service. Our trained delivery team will bring the chair into the room of your choice, assemble it if required, and remove all packaging. We’ll give you — and any carers involved — a full demonstration of all controls, including the Tilt-in-Space mechanism, back recline, legrest and any accessories fitted, so you feel completely confident using the chair from the moment it arrives. We deliver and install across the whole of the UK.
The Tri-Chair Two is typically recommended where standard seating is no longer sufficient to maintain posture, manage pressure or support safe repositioning. If the person you care for is spending the majority of their day seated, has difficulty maintaining an upright midline position, is at risk of pressure injury, or has a condition that affects postural control or muscle function, the Tri-Chair Two is worth considering. A free home visit from one of our seating consultants — who are experienced in working alongside Occupational Therapists and families — is the most effective way to assess whether the Tri-Chair Two is the right match. Our Chair Selector Tool also allows you to filter by condition, symptoms, height and weight to generate a shortlist of suitable options.
Yes. The Tri-Chair Two is designed for use across a range of settings, including residential care homes, nursing homes and other healthcare environments, as well as in the home. The lockable castors and push handle make it straightforward to move the chair safely between rooms, and the clinical feature set — including Tilt-in-Space, independent repositioning controls and lateral postural support — is suited to environments where multiple users or carers may be involved in supporting the individual throughout the day.
A standard riser recliner is designed to assist with the sit-to-stand transition and general comfort for ambulant or semi-ambulant users who can broadly maintain their own posture. The Tri-Chair Two is a clinically specified specialist chair designed for users with more complex needs — particularly those who cannot reposition independently or who require active postural management throughout the day. Key differences include the Tilt-in-Space mechanism (which moves the whole seating unit rather than reclining only the back), the lateral support waterfall cushion system (which provides three-dimensional midline support rather than a flat backrest), and the made-to-measure sizing as standard. The Tri-Chair Two is also suitable for use across a wider range of care environments, including residential care settings, not only in the home.
The Tri-Chair Two is compatible with a range of posture management and safety accessories that can be specified as part of your consultation. Available accessories include 2-point and 4-point padded lapbelts, a padded pelvic positioner, a chest harness with zip, and a flip-up angle-adjustable footplate. These accessories are selected in response to your individual clinical requirements and fitted as part of the delivery and setup process. If you are working with an Occupational Therapist, they can advise on which accessories are appropriate for your postural profile and support needs.
Yes. Made-to-measure sizing is standard on every Tri-Chair Two, not an optional upgrade. Seat height, width and depth are each configured to the individual user’s body measurements, ensuring that the chair provides accurate postural support and that the lateral cushion system functions correctly for that person’s frame. This is particularly important for users with complex postural needs, where an ill-fitting seat can undermine the clinical benefit of the chair’s features. Measurements are taken by your Channel Healthcare seating consultant during the home consultation, and the chair is built to those specifications directly at the factory.
The lateral support waterfall back cushions on the Tri-Chair Two are a series of cushion sections positioned along the inner sides of the backrest, designed to overlap and extend inward toward the user’s torso. Unlike a standard flat backrest, which supports the body only from behind, these cushions also support from the sides — cradling the torso and helping the user maintain a centred, upright midline position. This three-dimensional support is particularly valuable for users whose condition affects postural control or muscle tone, causing them to lean or drift to one side during extended sitting. The waterfall configuration allows the cushions to contour around the body rather than imposing a rigid fixed position, making the support more responsive and adaptive.
Independent back recline means that the backrest can be adjusted without altering the position of the seat, legrest or footplate. This is distinct from a standard recline mechanism, which typically moves multiple elements together. Independent control allows the user or carer to tilt the backrest for rest or comfort — for example to support reading, eating or sleeping — without changing the angle of the legs or disrupting lower limb positioning. For users who need to maintain a specific leg elevation for circulation or oedema management, this separation of controls is clinically important. Combined with the independently elevating legrest, the Tri-Chair Two gives a level of postural adaptability that a single-recline chair cannot achieve.
Tilt-in-Space is a mechanism that moves the entire seating unit - seat, backrest and footrest - as a single controlled tilt, rather than reclining only the backrest. This motion gently pivots the user backwards, redistributing body weight across a larger surface area and significantly reducing pressure at the seat base and sacrum. For users who cannot independently shift their weight or reposition themselves, Tilt-in-Space provides a safe, motorised way to change position throughout the day, helping to prevent pressure injury and improve comfort during extended periods of sitting. It also reduces the effort required from carers who would otherwise need to manually reposition the user.
The Tri-Chair Two is designed for semi-ambulant and non-ambulant users with complex postural, pressure care or mobility needs. It is particularly well suited to those managing neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Acquired Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsy. It is also used widely for users with musculoskeletal conditions including Scoliosis, Kyphosis and Contractures, as well as those recovering from stroke or living with conditions that affect postural control, muscle tone or the ability to independently reposition. The lateral support cushions and Tilt-in-Space mechanism work together to actively manage alignment and pressure, making the Tri-Chair Two particularly effective for users who spend the majority of their waking hours seated. If you are unsure whether the Tri-Chair Two is appropriate for a specific diagnosis or level of need, our seating specialists can advise - or you can use our Chair Selector Tool to explore options across the full range.
